We are quickly approaching our departure date of October 20th and many people are curious as to what route we will be taking to begin the trip. Initially we had planned on leaving Casper and heading directly to Arizona, exploring Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Arizona along the way. After thinking more about our departure, we decided that we would like to visit family and friends that live in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington and California, so a loop through the northwest and down the coast seemed to be a fitting way to start.
The ultimate goal of the first leg of our trip is to leave Casper and arrive in Arizona for Thanksgiving which gives us about five weeks to make the loop. The towns we will be visiting along the way are: Thermopolis, WY, Billings, MT, Boise, Lewiston, and Bonner’s Ferry, ID, and Bellingham, Issaquah, Bremerton, and Seabeck, WA. From there our plans are quite loose, but we want to explore the Olympic Peninsula then head south generally along Highway 101 seeing as many sites as we can before heading to Arizona. Here is our general route:
